Anti-Microbial Coating for Lifts
High-touch surfaces inside lifts can harbour microbes, especially in busy buildings where many different people use the equipment each day. To help improve hygiene and support safer environments for staff, visitors and customers, we now offer a professional anti-microbial coating for lifts.
What Is an Anti-Microbial Coating?
Anti-microbial technology refers to materials designed to resist the growth of microorganisms such as bacteria, moulds and fungi, not just bacteria alone. When added during the manufacturing process, these coatings provide built-in, long-lasting protection that works continuously without the need for frequent reapplication.
This technology uses silver ions embedded in the coating to disrupt the cellular activity of microbes that come into contact with treated surfaces, helping to reduce their ability to survive and spread.
Benefits of Anti-Microbial Lift Protection
Our anti-microbial lift coating provides a range of benefits for high-usage environments:
- Improved hygiene: Significantly reduces the presence of bacteria on touch surfaces in lifts.
- Reduced cross-contamination: Cleaner surfaces lower the risk of microbes transferring between users.
- Long-lasting protection: When professionally applied, the coating remains effective for the expected lifetime of the product.
- Enhanced durability: Surface protection can help reduce wear and material degradation over time.
- Versatile use: The coating is safe for a variety of lift interior surfaces, including buttons, handrails and panels.
How the Technology Works
The anti-microbial coating we use is ultra-thin and virtually invisible once applied, offering surface protection without changing the look or feel of your lift interiors. Silver-based antimicrobial additives are widely recognised for their ability to inhibit microbial growth and help maintain surface cleanliness over extended periods.
We offer two types of coating depending on the surface material:
Metal Protection: A thin, robust coating suitable for stainless steel and other metal surfaces.
Hard Surface Protection: A slightly thicker coating designed for non-metallic lift surfaces.
A Practical Hygiene Enhancement
Anti-microbial coatings are particularly useful in environments where lift traffic is high, such as offices, retail centres, healthcare facilities and residential buildings. While regular cleaning and maintenance remain important, these coatings help create an additional hygiene layer that reduces microbial presence on key contact points
